Development Contribution
Complex and High Demand Electricity Connections
As our network is continuing to grow, driven by demand for new connections by new and existing clients across the wider Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland region.
We have established a policy for development contributions that is fair to both new clients and existing clients. The requirement of a client to pay a development contribution, where new investment is required, is to ensure that existing clients are not burdened by these costs (where they generally receive no benefit).
The Development Contribution is to fund the cost of new or upgraded upstream network infrastructure required to support additional demand created by a development. This contribution is separate from direct Electrical Infrastructure Works costs and is applied to ensure equitable cost recovery across the network. The Electrical Infrastructure Works contract is for the costs specifically related to infrastructure works for the development from the ISNZL network (point of supply).
If the new connection is described as having 'construction complexity and high connection demand’, then a Development Contribution and an Electrical Infrastructure Works Contract will generally be required for this client. These projects generally have longer timeframes being 18 + months before works may commence.
